This course is aimed at non-technical audiences; although it has been found that technical audiences benefit from this at the start of more in depth communications courses. The course takes us through the basics of today’s major services that are emerging in telecoms market such as telecoms grade Voice over IP (VoIP) and multicasting IPTV, we start by looking at the underlying IP routing and then map onto this VoIP and IPTV services using role play exercises to act out how IP network elements such as routers interact in support of these services. Participants are expected to get highly involved and take on their roles whilst at the same time injecting in to the course their own awareness of these services so as to enrich the training session for all those involved. The course concludes by looking at the basics of tunnelling in support of IP Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).

Anyone who wants to have fun whilst learning about VoIP and IPTV and VPNs, this course is aimed at both non-technical and technical audiences.
No prerequisite knowledge is required although a basic awareness of datacoms and telecommunications would be advisable.
