Course summary

There is a clear set of needs driving the development of connected and autonomous vehicles, centred on safety, efficiency, and the environment, all of which are now key focus areas for city authorities and national governments. Hence the automotive industry is engaging with key stakeholders from within government and partner industries to accelerate development and drive the agenda.

This programme looks at the different use cases and features of connected and autonomous vehicles – including collision avoidance and autonomous braking, platooning, traffic light timing and optimal speed, traffic jam assist, road condition notifications, and points of interest – as well as the systems and infrastructure that is needed to ensure reliable and stable operation in a sometimes-chaotic environment. We focus on classifications of vehicle (both technical and compliance), sensors, connectivity (V2V and V2I), and the data and systems that underpin effective operation in order build a comprehensive understanding of this hugely complex area.
