This category relates to courses covering the North American defined second- and third-generation cdmaOne™ and CDMA2000™ mobile cellular telecommunication technologies. These are important technologies in the American and Asian mobile cellular markets and have seen some adoption in many other parts of the world.
cdmaOne™ is a second-generation (2G) technology supporting voice calls and some data and messaging capability. It offers significant capacity, quality and security benefits over the analogue systems it replaced. CDMA2000™ provides a natural and cost-effective upgrade path towards, and even beyond, third-generation (3G) service capability. 3G enables mobile phone operators to offer more advanced multimedia-based services through the capability to support higher bit rates and, importantly, a much more flexible radio interface compared with 2G technologies. These new service capabilities make additional market sectors accessible for new and existing network operators alike.
CDMA2000™ also brings with it improved quality, more capacity and more efficient network operation, both in terms of the radio interface and the core network.
